What is the difference between a 2-card and a 3-card set?
A 3-card set offers enhanced recovery options. If one card is misplaced, the remaining two can still provide access. In contrast, with only two cards, losing one and forgetting your access code could prevent you from resetting or recovering your wallet.
Does my hardware wallet rely on Tangem’s servers?
Your hardware wallet is completely independent—Tangem servers are never involved in your crypto transactions. All you need is your card or ring, a smartphone, and access to the blockchain.
If my Tangem is stolen, can anyone else access my hardware wallet?
No. Your wallet is secured with an access code that prevents unauthorized access and protects against brute-force attacks.
Can I use a seed phrase with my wallet?
Using a seed phrase is optional. Tangem offers three ways to generate your keys: Hardware-generated keys, app-generated seed phrase, and import from another wallet. Keep in mind that seed phrases can be duplicated or stolen, unlike private keys generated and stored offline.
Will I lose access to my funds if my phone is lost or damaged?
No, you won’t lose access. Simply use your Tangem card or ring with any compatible smartphone to download the Tangem app and access your portfolio. Your phone never stores sensitive data—it only acts as a convenient interface.
